Introduction of a new measurand at a proven level of quality

Optical Turbidity Measurement with the JUMO ecoLine NTU Sensor

The turbidity measurement according to DIN EN ISO 7027 is an efficient and widespread measurement method for controlling and determining quality (particularly of water with low to medium turbidity). Due to the optical turbidity sensor ecoLine NTU, JUMO can now offer such a method. The measurement and control technology specialist is extending its program of sensors for liquid analysis by a new measureand while at the same time expanding its offer of optical and digital measurement methods.

The measuring principle of the JUMO ecoLine NTU is based on an infrared light measurement according to the 90° scattered light principle. Thanks to turbidity measurement for a wavelength of 880 nm and a measuring range of 0 to 4000 NTU, the sensor is suitable for application in numerous fields. Drinking water monitoring, municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, final wastewater inspection, monitoring bodies of water, or application in fish farming operations are just some examples.

The sensor is suitable for operating temperatures of 0 to 50 °C. The sensor housing is made of PVC and is characterized by its sleek and robust design. The calibration data and the calibration history are stored in the implemented electronics. This allows rapid deployment without the constant need for recalibration. Both immersion and flow fittings are available as accessories.

The JUMO ecoLine NTU is connected via the RS485 digital interface to the JUMO AQUIS 500 RS indicator/controller and can therefore be deployed on-site as a complete measuring unit. The JUMO AQUIS 500 RS also has two analog outputs and two switching outputs. As a result, the device is ideally suited for connection to superior systems. Plain text displays make operation easy. Furthermore backlighting enables the display to be read even under adverse light conditions.
